am I a new believer ?

NEW BELIEVER

Why should I be a ‘Christian’?

Everyone is guilty of sin. We all do wrong things, think wrong things, and say wrong things. Because of the error of mankind we were all condemned to an eternity away from God. But, ‘God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost, but have eternal life’. John 3:16

You should become a Christian so that you will have eternal life.

What does it mean to be saved?

To be well-looked-after, delivered/set free and protected from the evil one, sin, the consequences of sin and eternal death.

The Bible says in John 5:24 “I tell you the truth, whoever hears what I say and believes in the One who sent me has eternal life. That person will not be judged guilty but has already left death and entered life.” (New Century Version). When we believe in Jesus Christ, He saves us from judgement and gives us access to live with Him in eternity

Why is it important to pray?

Prayer is our way to talk to God. It is how we communicate with God to keep our relationship with Him alive and active. When we first become a Christian, we say a prayer asking for forgiveness and acceptance as one of His children. You can say this prayer aloud as a confession of your faith in Jesus:

Lord God, I believe I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for the forgiveness of my sin. I am willing to change and turn from my sins. I now invite Jesus Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour and ask that You write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life for eternity. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!

If you have just said the above Prayer, Welcome to the Family of God!

The Bible tells us in John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the light to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (New King James Version). You have just become a child of God through Jesus Christ. That’s exciting news and we know God is rejoicing to have you as His Child.

Your Next Steps

We would love to hear about the decision that you have made, so we can connect with you and support you in your new life with Christ. Please complete our e-mambership form  and someone from our team will contact you, and advise you of what next steps you can take, keep you on our prayer list and send you some materials to help you grow in your new walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.

As you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, as a Christian you should:

Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better. Reading the Bible is the guide and tool that directs you to the right path to eternal life. You can download free Bible Apps on your phone and other gadgets if you don’t have a Bible. We suggest reading the book/gospel of Mark to start with. If you encounter questions, discuss them with someone who has been a Christian for a while or contact us, help you grow in your new walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Talk to God in prayer every day. Relationships are kept alive and vibrant through continuous communication and it’s the same with our relationship with God. You talk to God in prayer and He talks back to you through His Word – the Bible. You should talk to God about every area of your life, every situation, plan and decision.

Make a decision to be baptised. The Bible Tells us that Baptism is important and Acts 2:38 shows us why. “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (New King James Version)

We encourage you to worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached, and the Bible is the final authority on everything.

Tell others about Christ. God has adopted you as His child and saved you from sin, eternal death and hell – this is great news to share with your friends and family. Tell them about Christ, they can come to know Him and receive His free gift of salvation too.
